Nestled in gently rolling slopes of vineyards sets the picturesque town of Les Arcs Sur Argens. Home to "The Provence Culinary Experience". Classes for four are designed to teach the cuisine of Provence, using local and seasonal products. This small group of students allows for lots of hands on experience and personalized attention.
Each day you will take trips to nearby vineyards, wineries, markets and other culinary points of interest. Most frequently we are purchasing the ingredients for our next meal and meeting the cheese maker, baker, farmer etc. Additionally there is free time to shop and sightsee as each day the class is limited to 4 or 4.5 hours.
Your day begins with a traditional French breakfast on the main floor, consisting of delicious, fresh pastries from the local Patisserie , homemade marmalades, juice, coffee, tea and fresh fruits and yogurts. After breakfast our daily excursion begins and we visit interesting places for shopping and sightseeing. One day we dine out for lunch and hold our class in the afternoon, preparing our evening meal. One evening we dine out, having prepared the midday meal beginning directly after breakfast. Each day there is time left for relaxing. All meals are served with appropriate wines when dining in. and a selection of wines at our dining out excursions. All in moderation but selected to enhance the dining experience. For the classes you will receive printed recipes to in a lovely binder. Additionally you will receive a "Provence Culinary Experience" apron to take home.
Getting There with your Group
The Trip is only available to 2 people. we recommend you arrive in Nice, where we will meet you & take you to your Provence home in the Medevial Village of Les Arcs Sur Argens, just 40 minutes from the sea.
Karen Mitcham-Stoeckley from The Eagle's Nest in Louisiana, Missouri, your hostess & instructor. Karen has a long history in the culinary world beginning in the 70's as the Culinary Consultant to Le Creuset and Cousnes, the renowned French cookware. She has been a food writer for various publications for many years and is the executive chef at The Eagles Nest Winery & Bakery. & Restaurant. Her studies of cooking have taken her to France, Italy, Japan and through out the USA. Recently Karen has published a wonderful cookbook "A Culinary Legacy" "From Escoffier to Today" and one copy of this work is included in your fee. Classes with Karen will be hands on and reflect her love of Provence.
With all your transportation provided from the Nice Airport in Les Arcs Sur Argens, you can relax and allow someone else deal with directions and traffic. The guest room in the old stone house offers 2 twin beds and a charming terrace just outside your second floor room. While all modern communications are available, this is a Medevial Village that began in the 9th Century. Pack light!
Classes will resume late Feb 2015 through May 2015. Reserve early to assure you get the dates you need.
